Wellbridge: The Best of New York MAT Treatment Centers
Industry-Leading Treatment For Drug & Alcohol Recovery
Advancing Scientific Innovation For Addiction At Our MAT Detox Center
A MAT program is a form of addiction treatment that employs the use of medications to mitigate withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and increase comfort during drug or alcohol detox. This FDA-approved treatment option creates a better patient experience and increases positive outcomes.
One medical study revealed that patients who participated in MAT treatment reported using fewer substances (heroin, alcohol, opioids), improved health, reduced symptoms, less pain, fewer worries, less anxiety, and reduced depressive symptoms after treatment.[1]
The withdrawal experience varies from person to person and substance to substance. Still, it can include many uncomfortable symptoms, including rapid heartbeat, tremors, high blood pressure, agitation, nausea, vomiting, runny nose, anxiety, dysphoria, insomnia, cravings, rapid breathing, and more.[2]
At Wellbridge, we specialize in cutting-edge and innovative medication-assisted treatment. Our internal Addiction Science Research Center is dedicated to actively pursuing newer and better interventions to improve the treatment experience and patient quality of life.
What Is MAT Treatment For?
MAT is effective for a range of substance use disorders but is most often employed to treat Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
- MAT For AUD: MAT treatment for alcohol incorporates medications like Vivitrol (Naltrexone) or Disulfiram to interrupt the euphoric experience of alcoholic beverages or produce uncomfortable effects to discourage use.
- MAT For OUD: Suboxone (a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone), methadone, and naltrexone are industry-leading interventions for treating OUD. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reports that these medications block the euphoric effects and stabilize brain chemistry to relieve cravings and restore healthy operation.[3]
- MAT For Other SUDs: Other interventions may be implemented to treat a range of substances, but determining exactly what medications are a good fit for you will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
