Calverton, NY (July 12, 2021) – Wellbridge Addiction Treatment and Research Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Behavioral Health Care and Human Services Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
Wellbridge underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review May 4th – 7th. During the visit, The Joint Commission evaluated compliance with behavioral health care and human services standards spanning several areas including environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and rights and responsibilities of the individual.
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyor also conducted site tours and employee interviews.
“As a private accreditor, The Joint Commission surveys health care organizations to protect the public by identifying deficiencies in care and working with those organizations to correct them as quickly and sustainably as possible,” said Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Wellbridge for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care.”
“The Joint Commission is the Gold Standard for Quality and Safety in healthcare, and we are overjoyed by this recognition and achievement,” said Wellbridge CEO Andrew Drazan. “No one should have to face their addiction alone, and at Wellbridge, we take pride in providing affordable, optimal, personalized care for each patient that walks through our doors.”
Preparation for Wellbridge’s initial survey began in June 2020. Using the Joint Commission’s standards as a framework staff developed, initiated, and put in to place multiple elements of performance to meet each of the standards.
“The Joint Commission’s gold seal reflects Wellbridge’s commitment to meeting multiple, significant performance standards. We are proud of this achievement and are dedicated to going beyond these to continue to provide safe and quality care for our patients,” said Ellen Judson, MS, RN, vice president of quality at Wellbridge.
