Research informed care

As a clinician, you understand the value of research yet also know firsthand the gap that exists to apply research to treatment. Clinicians have owned the burden of translating research to patient care. Wellbridge offers a fresh perspective with a community approach.

Wellbridge is a community where clinicians and researchers work collaboratively to inform treatment approaches. The Center for Addiction Science is located on the Wellbridge campus alongside the treatment center. The collection and analysis of up-to-date research and patient data, and the daily interaction of researchers and clinicians, will allow for rapid inclusion of the latest discoveries into more effective care.

Built on the concept of learning and discovery

Wellbridge applies a research-informed clinical program that focuses on core substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders, and systematically integrates diverse treatment modalities for the individual and their family. Our clinical approach includes research-caliber assessment and measurement frameworks to establish rigorous clinical formulations of each patient. Elements of this framework include structured interviews, psychometric scales, and cognitive testing. From this foundation we are able to measure change over the long-term course of treatment and advance our approach to care. For example, clinicians work closely with researchers to develop a structured and systematic family therapy program which is continually adapted as we engage and learn from patients and their families. Extending from our medical and psychiatric providers, to our creative arts therapists, and to our family therapists, Wellbridge is committed to applying the best available science to enhance all clinical practices.

Partnership with a major health system

We are one of the first residential addiction treatment centers to partner with a major health network, Northwell Health. With all the assets of Northwell alongside us, we support a patient’s and family’s entire journey of self-discovery and recovery.

Wellbridge delivers superior addiction treatment for patients and families by leveraging individualized evidence-based therapies. Wellbridge treats patients 18 years and older who suffer from addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our dynamic interdisciplinary approach includes psychotherapy and physician-level care, nursing, as well as engagement in family programs.

Three programmatic levels of care, approved by the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, include Medical Stabilization, Rehabilitation, and Extended Stay. Interconnected clinical programs also include Aftercare Planning, Family Support, Creative Expression, and Wellness.

Set on a serene 96-acre campus in Calverton, NY, we are just 70 miles east of New York City. The proximity of Wellbridge to the metro area allows easy access by patients, convenient family visits and participation in family programs.

Recovery is a journey. There is much to be learned from the patient’s history which can influence the Wellbridge treatment plan. We understand that a smooth transition from your care to Wellbridge, and the return to your clinical care post residential treatment, are part of a patient’s path to sustainable recovery.
